Your Corporate Headshot Welcome Pack & Information

First of all I’d like to say that I genuinely look forward to each and every headshot session I do. I love photographing new faces and celebrating what makes you different with some fantastic photos!

Please read all of the advice below so we can make the most of the time we have in our session together. It will hopefully have you feeling as prepared as you can be.

Your Headshot Session - A Brief Overview

Upon arrival for your headshot session I will greet you at my front door and take you through to my studio. Please note that my studio is inside of my house, where I live, so please treat the space with respect.

We’ll start off by having a quick chat on the sofa so I can start to get a feel of what kind of look you’d like to achieve and what you’d like your headshot to say about you. Then we’ll have a look at your clothing options (more about this later) and get right on to shooting. I usually spend the first minute or two getting all my settings and lighting right, which involves taking a few test shots and adjusting the bits in my studio. Once I’m happy with my side, all my attention can be on you. Throughout the session I’ll offer plenty of direction and advice, showing you the photos as we go along (if you’d like me to) and we’ll work collaboratively to get the look you want.

It’s totally natural to be nervous in front of a stills camera. Pretty much everyone who arrives in my studio will say the same thing ‘I’m not photogenic/ I don’t know what I’m doing/ I’ve got a wonky nose’ etc. A business headshot needs to celebrate what makes you different and makes people want to work with you. I’ll play music and offer LOTS of direction and I’m certain that you’ll soon relax into the session, which is when you’ll become the most confident, attractive version of yourself - and that’s what I’ll capture.

My Studio

My studio’s address is 33 Clifton Terrace, Brighton, BN1 3HB.

It is on a raised walkway that runs next to the path leading down the hill to Clifton Place. My house is the last house along the raised walkway.

Please note, my studio unfortunately does not have any disabled access as there are a flight of stairs leading up to the studio.

Parking & Travel

I am a 10 minute walk from Brighton Station and a 5 minute walk from Churchill Square’s Bus Stops. There is secure storage for a bike in my entrance hallway.

My home studio is in Parking Zone Y. There are a few streets that you can park on near my studio, however a few roads are permit parking from 9am-8pm. There are usually a fair few parking spaces around my area.

The Pay & Display roads near my house, as of June 2020 charge £6.60 for a 2hr stay. Alternatively, the nearest car parks to my house are Regency Square or Churchill Square.

Clothing

In terms of your choice of clothing, I always advise people to stick to what they know works and what they feel good in. I wouldn’t always advise buying something new for the session in case you decide that you don’t like the outfit a week later.

If you need some inspiration for what to wear then have a look at what others are wearing in the business headshots your company may have already uploaded on their website, or if you are self employed or work alone, then Google some businesses like yours (maybe even your competitors) and have a look at what they are wearing in their headshots.

You are able to bring a change of clothes if you wish to the session. However if we are shooting a shorter session please bring items that can be quickly swapped out and can go over a base layer of clothing i.e suit jackets, vest tops, jackets & jumpers.

If you are an individual who has booked a longer session then please do bring as many clothes changes as you’d like, it’s great to have options when we’re going for a few looks.

General Tips

If you get a spot, blemish or cut/graze on your face - leave it alone! I can retouch it, don’t pick it or make it red please.

Please avoid shiny products/makeup, such as lip balms, reflective foundations and concealers and definitely no highligter! But feel free to wear as much or as little makeup as you feel comfortable in.

Don’t have a new haircut or colour within a few days of the shoot - if you don’t like it then you won’t feel comfortable.

If you want to change your hair as we go along, please bring the products you’ll need.
